Blog About it!
For the time being, I am going to use this Blog as a way to share classroom news. Enjoy!
Next up on our Virtual Learning Challenge, Google EVERYTHING! We, as a school district, have recently made the jump to Google Mail! Along with that jump comes the access to all things Google. Why am I so excited you ask?! Let me paint a picture for you: You are sitting up at 1:48am, working very hard on a paper. You're dozing in and out of dream land when you finally tell yourself you will be of no help to anyone without at least a few hours sleep and off you go to bed without remembering to save that 20 PAGE PAPER. YIKES, right? Wrong, NOT ANYMORE; Not if you're using Google Drive. If you're working in google drive, then everything you are working on SAVES AUTOMATICALLY, the moment, the second you stop working. No Save Button Required! The students and I are very excited about this since they, and I, are very forgetful at times. We are Googling it up!
During the week of December 8th through December 12th, my Algebra 1A class will be practicing the concept of a Flipped Classroom. The students and I are very excited about this because this way families can now see what their students are learning. A Flipped Classroom is where the students receive the lesson at home and complete the HW assignment in school.
We will be utilizing the resources found at emathinstruction.com. On this site, visitors will find a link under Free eTextbooks for Common Core Algebra 1. Here, students will find the units covered in Algebra 1. Each unit is broken down into Lessons which include 2 pages of notes and 2 pages of HW. The coolest part of the notes is the QR Code located in the upper right hand corner of each lessons' notes. With a QR Reader App, students can scan these codes and get linked directly to a video that covers the WHOLE lesson! Imagine the Flipping possibilities! |
